Privacy Policy @ dtype.org 1. This policy is applicable to all sites hosted by M. Drew Streib at Hurricane Electric (he.net), including, but not limited to, dtype.org, alt.org, freedb.org, netcount.org, startx.com, www.us.pgp.net, and li.org. For the remainder of this document, I will refer to these sites collectively as 'dtype.org'. If you would like to verify a copy of this policy from me, I'd be happy to send you one, signed with my widely available OpenPGP key. 2. I will never sell, nor give to any third party, personal information gathered at dtype.org, unless such information is gathered for public distribution with the knowledge of the end user. For example, email addresses submitted with public keys to www.us.pgp.net are expected to be included when users request the relevant public key. 3. There are a variety of public services at dtype.org which generate a great deal of statistical data including usage patterns and trust metrics (pgp.net). Many of these services already contribute this data to general reports (see http://dtype.org/keyanalyze/). This data will continue to be used for such reports, and probably some future ones. Personal data, to include specific email addresses and IP addresses, will never be distributed in these reports unless such data is already publicly available as per paragraph (2). 4. Many users have personal accounts on machines at dtype.org, and receive mail or other personal data. Other user personal data is never backed up from dtype.org unless specifically requested. I will never read mail nor data in others' user accounts. Mail logs are only kept for two weeks for abuse tracking purposes, and are then discarded without backup. They are never inspected unless required for abuse tracking, and even then to the minimal level necessary. Mail relayed through dtype.org is never stored for longer than is necessary to relay the mail. All frozen mail is deleted after four days. 5. The only exception to the paragraphs above is data sent from users to my personal accounts on dtype.org. If you send me mail, I have license to that mail as much as you have of mail sent to you from me. I explicitly state this for legal reasons, as I sometimes require access to my own conversations. 6. If you believe that I, or any of the users of dtype.org, are in violation of this policy, please email me immediately at abuse@dtype.org. |
